Multi-sector patch array

The multi-sector patch array combines a number of 4x1 arrays, referred to as sectors, in a multi-sector configuration to achieve a near-omnidirectional pattern. In order to reduce spurious feed network radiation of each sector, the corporate structure is located on the underside of the antenna, with pins connecting the microstrip network to the individual patches through holes in a central ground plane, sandwiched between two substrates.

The 3D radiation pattern below is that of a 5-sector patch array with zero tilt, while the polar plot shows overlain single-sector results for all five sectors.
