Turnstile antenna

The inclined-arm turnstile is a fairly compact, lightweight and sturdy antenna used in a variety of applications, including satellite communications. A pair of crossed dipoles, fed in phase-quadrature (using a split coaxial balun), is placed above a ground plane to achieve circular polarisation.

The antenna has a unidirectional pattern with a typical gain of 7 dBi and performance bandwidth of 15%.
